Arrive at FCO (Leonardo da Vinci - Fiumicino) Airport by Noon.
Although we will designate a "group flight", it will be up to you to get your own flight and arrive by Noon at the airport, where we will leave as a group.
If you decide to arrive earlier, we can help you coordinate a driver to pick up you up from the airport and get you back to meet the group.
Once we're all together we'll depart for St. Paul's Outside the Walls where we will spend the afternoon touring the church and celebrating Mass. Afterward, we'll head back into Rome for a delicious dinner at Da Roberto.
Wednesday,
December 29,
2021
In the morning we will depart the hotel on foot for Vatican Museums, where we will see some of the most renown art in the world and visit the Sistine Chapel before having time to explore and have lunch on your own. In the afternoon we will depart for the Basilica of St. Mary Major where we will tour the church before celebrating Mass. Dinner will be at the rooftop restaurant of the Mercente Palace Hotel.
Thursday
December 30,
2021
This will be our only early morning but it will be well worth it! We will depart the hotel on foot for the brief walk to St. Peter's Basilica. There we will celebrate Mass and have time for prayer, exploring the church on your own, and even climbing the dome (if you wish) to see Rome from a truly unique vantage point (and shop at the Vatican's rooftop gift shop). With a break for lunch on your own (and time to grab a quick nap if the early morning has you tired), we will regroup in the afternoon for a walking tour of Rome's historical center. We'll visit and learn about the Pantheon, San Luigi dei Francesi, Chiesa Nuova, and more! We'll attend a very special Te Deum Performance at Sant' Andrea della Valle (and sing your year to God with ancient hymn) before heading to a delicious dinner at Ar Galetto.

New Year's Eve!
After a full day yesterday, we'll start a little later with golf carts picking us up and whizzing us through the streets of Rome as we make our way to visit the Colosseum. We'll then have some free time near Piazza Venezia. From here you'll be able to take in sweeping views of the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II and have time for a leisurely lunch and/or shopping on the famed Via de Corso. Given that we're going to have a late night, feel free to head back to the hotel for an afternoon nap before we head to dinner to have one of the best meals of the entire trip at Polese, where Lino and Jill held their wedding reception. After stuffing ourselves, we'll say goodbye to 2021 and ring in 2021 with some very special New Year's Eve festivities!
Saturday
January 1,
2022
Today is the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God and the day that Pope Francis will give his Urbi et Orbi address from St. Peter's. So in the morning we'll head to St. Peter's Square on foot for the Mass, procession, and to watch the papal address and receive Pope Francis' apostolic blessing. (And have anything you wish to bring with you blessed as well!) Then we'll head to lunch on the rooftop of nearby Paul VI Hotel which has some of the most incredible views imaginable of the Vatican. In the afternoon we'll tour Piazza Navona and have the opportunity to visit the famous Christmas Markets before having dinner on your own.
Sunday
January 2,
2022
This morning we'll set off for a walking tour of arguably Rome's most charming neighborhood, Trastevere. We'll celebrate Mass at Santa Maria in Trastevere before having a traditional Sunday Lunch at the fantastic Roma Sparita. After lunch we'll depart for the ancient Catacombs where we'll discover the hidden mysteries buried under thousands of years of history. After a full day we'll head back to the hotel and break for the evening on our own, but we'll likely organize some different dining options based on what folks are in the mood for.
Monday
January 3,
2022
We'll have the morning for shopping and returning to our favorite places one last time before regrouping and heading to St. John Lateran to tour the church and celebrate Mass. Afterward, we'll visit the Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs) before heading to our farewell dinner at one of our all-time favorite restaurants Abruzzi. After dinner we'll take a leisurely walk back to the hotel stopping by the Trevi fountain and taking in Rome after dark.

We head back home today (Booo!) but we'll help coordinate travel to the airport, etc.
A Few Things That Will Make This Trip Unique
- It’s almost certain you’ll need to be vaccinated. Italy isn’t requiring vaccinations right now but my land operator says it’s very likely. So get vaccinated if you plan to come with.
- We’ll likely need to wear masks indoor and possibly even outdoor.
- Italy is only allowing buses to be half full. Thus, we’ll likely do 2 buses everywhere we go.
- The $1,000 deposit is non refundable.
- Trip Insurance is available, and strongly recommended, because…have you heard of covid? Who knows what will happen with travel. You should be covered and we'll make recommendations on that, if helpful.
